Garden International has a thriving House System which sees each pupil and staff member join one of the four teams: Gecko, Eagle, Cobra and Tiger. This system is particularly exceptional due to the long and rich history within our school. New members of the school community are allocated to a House which they remain in for the duration of their time at school. This system brings children from Nursery to Sixth Form together along with healthy competitive spirit and enjoyment.
The House Event Calendar features a diverse range of activities and competitions such as table tennis, trivia and entrepreneurial tournaments that allow the children to express their creative, academic and sporting skills. Our House System is truly inclusive.
Each House has two Captains, one from Primary and one from Secondary, both elected by members of each house respectively. The Captains are role models and undertake challenging responsibilities that require them to use their advanced problem solving skills. Their leadership is also deemed important to elevate team spirit and collaboration between teachers is pivotal. Weekly meetings are also necessary to ensure the success of our House System.
Awarding points to students by teachers is also incentivised within our community to promote friendly competition, kind behaviour, teamwork and build rich character in our students which is necessary to strive in the real-world.
In addition to the house activities, competitions and points, there are also termly rewards up for grabs. The team with the greatest number of points at the end of each term earns a reward the following term. At the end of the academic year, the team with the most points wins a house party on top of the class party that happens regardless of the results.
